Rental Policy & Space Use Agreement

  • In order to rent Pieter’s space, you must first attend one of our in-person orientations. These happen several times a month and are an opportunity to check out the space out for yourself, meet some of our staff and give us a chance to get to know you.

    Upcoming orientation dates will be listed on our monthly EVENTS calendar.

    Orientations are capped at 15 people per session, so if your preferred time is not available, it is likely fully booked.

    After completing your orientation you will be directed to a Rental Inquiry Form where you can begin the online rental process. You only need to attend one Orientation to become an approved renter and request a variety of bookings.

  • Please allow 2-3 business days for staff to review your Rental Inquiry Form. Once accepted, you will be given a link to begin booking at the approved rate. This link will allow you to see Pieter’s live rental calendar, select available date(s) & time(s), and submit payment.

    Appointments can be booked 24 hrs in advance up to 90 days out on a first-come, first-serve basis. You may book at minimum 1 hour and maximum 6 hours at a time.

    When planning a rental with different space usage (i.e. a rehearsal as opposed to a public class), please complete an additional new Rental Inquiry Form.

    Pieter’s online booking process is designed for classes, workshops, rehearsal, practice, meetings, and non-commercial filming or photoshoots. For events/performances, commercial use, or for bookings over 6 hours, please email pieterpasd@gmail.com

  • After booking your rental you will be able to cancel or reschedule your appointment on your own via the links found in your confirmation email. Please do not delete your confirmation emails, in case you need to make changes to your appointment. Alternatively you may sign up for a Pieter client account at the end of the booking process and access all your rentals in one place.

    Our cancellation policy is:

    • Canceling 10 or more days in advance of your rental: Full refund

    • Canceling 48 hours to 10 days in advance: Partial refund minus 20% cancellation fee.

    • Canceling with less than 48 hour notice: No refund

    Your refund will be reimbursed after canceling via your confirmation email. Please allow 5-10 business days for funds to return.

    Please Note: Our refund policy does not include the 1.5% -3% payment processing fee that Square and PayPal take. Your refund may be less than the original payment issued due to these fees.

    Rescheduling:

    You can reschedule appointments up to 48 hrs before the appointment date, up to 90 days in advance. We ask that you please be mindful of other renters and try to reschedule well in advance of your booking. The sooner you know you won’t be using the space, the sooner you should reschedule and free that time up for other renters to book that slot. If we find a renter is habitually holding time slots and rescheduling for the future we may need to discuss and adjust their rental appointments.

  • NO: Fire, smoking, bodily fluids, oil or liquid silicone products, glitter, tap shoes, stilettos/sharp high heels, water that’s not in a closed container.

    Please open the windows if you will be using incense, perfume or other scented materials. We strive to maintain a low-scent space as a courtesy for other renters and our floormates.

  • Pets are not permitted in the Pieter studio or 2nd floor spaces with the exception of documented service animals.

    Please plan to be present with your leashed service animal at all times if you bring them to the space.

    If you plan on bringing your service animal to a class, please direcctly check in with the instructor that pet accommodations can be made with their class structure.

  • Masks are encouraged in common spaces such as the bathrooms, lobby, stairwell, elevator and floormates’ office spaces. Free masks, rapid COVID tests, and hand sanitizer are available in the shared hallway.

    Renters may determine their own masking and safety protocols while in the dance space.

  • Because we share space with Gender Justice LA and APAIT, we recommend familiarizing yourself with their work and understand there may be sensitive information or activities occurring in their spaces. Please strive to be as accommodating as possible while in the common areas.

    Please keep the doors to the Pieter studio closed during business hours (8am-6pm Mon-Fri) to minimize noise bleed to our floormates. The doors to the studio automatically lock after 10 seconds and may take some getting used to. We ask that you refrain from propping the doors open and suggest making  an announcement at the start of class so everyone is familiar with how they work and the code needed to re-enter the space.

    If at any time our floormates request that you lower the volume on the PA system we ask that you please respect this request within reasonable limits with regards to your own rental needs.

  • Pieter is located in the historic working class neighborhood of Lincoln Heights and is committed to solidarity with those most impacted by the violence of policing, gentrification, and displacement. Please join us in being good neighbors by spending your money at local businesses rather than large chains; being kind and courteous with neighbors, including the unhoused; considering the immediate harm that occurs when police are called; and being accountable to your and your guests’ presence in the neighborhood.   • Access to Pieter is granted through a keycode and lockbox system. For the safety and security of the space and our floormates, we request that you do not share access information with anyone who is not participating in your allotted booking time.

  • We do not keep an inventory of items left in the space and are not responsible for items left behind. It is the primary renter’s responsibility to clear any items that have been brought into the space during their rental. Lost & Found items are generally aggregated in a basket to the right of the water cooler inside the studio space. Pieter will be unable to locate lost items for renters or their cohort and will not schedule additional time to return to the space to search for lost items.
