Pieter is thrilled to announce that we are seeking a Studio & Operations Manager to start in April 2024. This is a newly created position at Pieter, and will start as a 6 month part-time contract, with the intention to renew as a permanent staff role at the end of the contract. This is primarily an in-person position, with limited remote hours and a flexible schedule that will include some evenings and weekends at our studio in Lincoln Heights. The Studio & Operations Manager will manage the Pieter Community Rental, Commercial & Special Event Rental, Long-Term Rental and Community Partnerships programs at Pieter, and work collaboratively to oversee building and studio operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Director of Programs and Director of Communications to ensure that all programs and opportunities align with Pieter’s mission and values.

  • Oversight and management of the Pieter Community Renter and Long-Term Renter programs and development and oversight of Commercial/Special Events Renter (through Peerspace or similar platform) and Community Partnerships programs.

  • Working collaboratively with the Director of Programs to manage interns and work study participants.

  • Providing general support for building and organizational operations including interfacing with the building’s property management and floor mate partners to maintain safe, sanitary and operational facilities.

  • Facilitating weekly Community Renter Orientations and Open Studio Hours (Mondays 11am-2pm).

  • Working closely with Commercial and Special Events renters to plan and execute their events. 

  • Finding and securing aligned vendors for purchasing and services.

  • Streamlining,designing and maintaining backend processes for all rentals.

  • Working collaboratively with the ED to ensure safety, health, city, state and federal compliance protocols and guidelines are met.

  • Ensuring organizational accountability to renter needs, feedback, and new ideas.

  • Liaise with Pieter Board of Directors for organizational updates

An ideal candidate for this position:

  • Is local to Los Angeles.

  • Has experience in facilities management, studio management, event organizing or similar, with a focus on operations.

  • Is invested in supporting opportunities and structures for movement and performance artists in Los Angeles, and is passionate about the intersections of body-based practices, healing and activism.

  • Values and has experience in diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility best practices.

  • Has experience creating and managing budgets and managing budget goals.

  • Has experience working with Acuity or other scheduling platforms, Canva, Google Suite and Slack (or willingness to learn)

  • Is warm, outgoing and enjoys connecting with many different kinds of people.

Compensation and benefits: 

  • Hourly rate of $27.50 for 20 hours/week
