April 22: Virtual Dance Jam hosted by Soy Nalgona
This is it!! The final event of our season is a sabroso Virtual Dance Jam hosted and DJ’ed by our very own Dancing Diaspora Collective member, the one-and-only Soy Nalgona! This will be an open dance hour to groove and get down, so make some space in your casita, turn up the volume, and come celebrate in our Dancing Diaspora community one last time! <3
José Richard Áviles AKA Soy Nalgona is an Urban Planner, Social Worker, and internationally touring Performance Artist native to South Central Los Angeles. Áviles’s work explores the relationship between space, place, and body. Their first piece Callejera explored the connections inherent in being a femme from the hood. Áviles’s current research interest lies in the relationship between behavior and the built-environment, city consciousness, and community engagement.
(Can’t make it to class live? Register anyway! You will receive a video recording of class so you can dance when works for you!)
