Holiday Residency with Lauren Bakst: Dimensional Lumber
Monday, Jul 6 2015
8:30 PM - 11:30 PM

Holiday Residency with Lauren Bakst will culminate in a showing on July 6, 8:30pm.  Bakst will show work from her body of solo performance, including material from three years ago to that developed during days prior at Pieter. This breadth of work explores the accumulation of loops—physical, remembered, and digital—in a singular body. There will be time to talk and give feedback. This will be my first visit to LA and I’m very excited to share my work and hear from you all!

Lauren Bakst is an artist whose work takes the forms of choreography, writing, video, and performance. She is currently somewhat preoccupied with the relationships between bodies and objects—also memory. Her latest project, Living Room Index and Pool, an exhibition of installation and performance with Yuri Masnyj, was presented at Pioneer Works in March and April, 2015, and will continue this summer at The Drawing Center. As a performer, Lauren has most recently worked with Gerard & Kelly, Michelle Boulé, and Mariana Valencia. Lauren was a 2014 danceWEB fellow at ImpulsTanz, the Fall 2014 Research & Development Fellow at the New Museum, and is a 2014-16 Open Sessions artist at The Drawing Center.
