Pieter Artist in Residence (February 14-March 1):
Ligia Manuela Lewis
MOUTH: . . . . out . . . into this world . . . this world . . . tiny little thing . . . before its time . . . in a godfor– . . . what? . . girl? . . yes . . . tiny little girl . . . into this . . . out into this . . . before her time . . .
Three ardent voices, positions, declamations come to the fore through the staging of the characters of Antigone (Jean Anouilh), Martha (Graham), and Billie (Whitelaw). Three act-ors slide between materials both personal and ubiquitous offering an amorphous translation of the iconic, historical, invisible; while marking interpretation as a space for transformation. This theater will negotiate the politics of transference and embodiment as they surrender to their roles.
