Devika Wickremesinghe is a dancer person, Pilates instructor, mover and shaker, originally from New York City. She graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College with a BA in Dance and Art History. Diving into dance performance and training after school led to a painful and repeated injury, and dancing through the pain became unsustainable. Through the discovery of the dynamic possibilities of Pilates, Devika became able to better understand her faulty movement patterns and properly care for her dancing body.
Devika is certified through the Kane School of Core Integration, a program that integrates the Pilates method with sound bio-mechanical principles and focus on injury prevention. She has worked with students of all levels and has experience with osteoporosis and degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, chronic neck and back pain, students living with MS, and has certifications in Pre- and Post-Natal Pilates. She believes movement should feel GOOD! Informed by her practice as a dancer and a yogi, Devika aims to give her clients a full bodied and gratifying movement experience.
