Stojolo Workshop is a dance movement workshop led by Los Angeles choreographers Jordan Saenz, Stephanie Zaletel and Lindsey Lollie. These three artists will each be teaching repertory from previous and upcoming works. The participants get a chance to explore the different styles that are intrinsic to each choreographer while engaging in the concepts that drive the work. The movement is raw, eccentric, technical, emotional, physical and at times a little offbeat. Within the movement are nuances of individual challenges and feats that are very real. In this class we will allow ourselves to use the movement to push our bodies and minds even further, in an effort to break the “barriers” that define us. All of the repertory will have a specific intention presented by each choreographer involving the use of imagery, curiosity and intuition.
About the Artists:

This year Lindsey presented, “Interval” in Celebrate Dance at the Alex Theater and in Redcat’s Spring Studio. Last Spring Lindsey set a new work with the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company, entitled “En Route”. Lindsey is currently expanding “Interval” in an attempt to further explore cultural assimilation, peer pressure and consumption.
Stephanie Zaletel, born and bred in Las Vegas, NV completed her BFA in Dance Performance/Choreography with a Minor in Humanities at the California Institute of the Arts in 2012. Primarily a freelance dancer and choreographer in Los Angeles, Stephanie has performed for locally and internationally renowned choreographers ranging among Barak Marshall, Lindsey Lollie, Stephanie Nugent, Colin Connor, Jordan Saenz, and in Danielle Agami’s Ate9 dANCEcOMPANY. Jordan Saenz is a freelance dancer and choreographer currently living in Los Angeles. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Jordan took up an interest in art-making at an early age. This path lead her to the Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance at CalArts where she graduated with her BFA in 2012. While attending school, Jordan studied West African music and dance, which inspired her to start composing her own music. Since her commencement, she has shown her work at REDCAT Fall Studio, Live Arts L.A, Pieter Performance Space, Highways Performance Space, and ARC Pasadena. Jordan has most recently been commissioned by Loyola Marymount University and Santa Monica College. She continues to teach and perform for Szalt and Lollieworks while pursuing her own creative endeavors.
