Description:
A 2-hour workshop— enough time to slow down.
Both beginners and masters of embodiment are welcome! This is a different flavor of somatic embodiment work. The focus is on following, unfolding and exploring meaning of the body's unique process, rather than only "releasing."
When we attune to ourselves—getting to know different aspects (or parts) of our personality, exploring sensations, understanding our embodied "yes" or "no"—it becomes easier to create beautiful relationships with ourselves and others.
A general flow of our time together: a short teaching, facilitated embodiment exercises, individual sharing/somatic coaching while being witnessed through an un-shaming lens.
This work is deeply consent based and trauma informed. Some have described it similar to mindfulness, shadow work, dance therapy or psychedelic inner work (no substances involved, and please arrive sober/substance free).
Participate as you feel comfortable—by following along as an observer, sharing your story and unfolding your experience, or curling up on a yoga mat and taking a nap.
This workshop is for you if:
-you desire: connection to yourself and community, more playfulness, to cultivate your unique giftings/passions to offer your communities (the world needs your magic!)
-you are experiencing any of the following (and desire to explore it): grief, burnout, body shame, a loud inner critic, body symptoms, chronic pain, existential dread, eating disorder (even if it was 11 years ago), unwanted coping: alcohol/substances/scrolling/ect..., or you want to change something about your life.
This workshop is not for you if:
-you are only looking for a quick fix, hack or healing
-you are not interested in developing your giftings/passions
-you don't want to develop curiosity about the "shadowy parts" of you
What to expect/what to bring:
Water is provided on site, please bring your own bottle.
You are encouraged to bring your own yoga mat— Pieter offers a limited amount of yoga mats. (There are also folding chairs if needed.)
Bring a pillow/blanket/sweater if you would like to feel cozy. Comfortable clothing is encouraged.
Bring a notebook and writing utencil if you like to learn/process through writing (but not necessary).
Please be mindful of pronouns as this is a queer affirming space.
Facilitator Bio:
Erin Sprinkle (she/her) Friend of the forest. Partner, Mama to a tween and a teen. A wonder-filled neuro-sparkly brain.
Certified somatic un-shaming practitioner for 5 years — "holding space for others to bloom is sacred work, it is my joy and my song".
Un-shaming is a soul care practice that witnesses and acknowledges power dynamics, societal injustices, inner parts of our personality- honoring multiplicity and paradox, night time dreams, body intelligence and inner/outer boundary making (deeply consent based and trauma informed).
When we are witnessed with care at an embodied sensory level, the inner child feels safe to heal, the masks fall away and we are free to become more ourselves.
Accessibility note:
The space is located on the 2nd floor with one flight of stairs directly up from the entrance.
Elevator access is available; please reach out to the facilitator prior to the event if you will need to use it. The elevator is spacious enough for any mobility device and the 2nd floor space is free of any steps or mobility barriers. There are no automated doors in the building.
There are two all-gender restrooms with three private stalls and a urinal. Each restroom has one stall accessible for mobility device users.
Parking:
Paid parking is available directly behind our building at 2412 Workman Street. There is an additional city lot south of Broadway on Workman Street. There is also ample metered parking in the neighborhood.
