Description:
This workshop will cover some of the basics of photography through the vehicle of portraiture. Here, you’ll learn about the artistic process and the importance of keeping a critical eye. Using A Klass’s own portfolio as examples, you will be guided through some of the things they wish were taught when they first started out and close out the workshop with an interactive photoshoot!

What to expect/what to bring:
Doors Open at 1:15PM and close at 1:30PM. The workshop will start promptly at 1:30PM and late arrivals will not be admitted.
Guests can bring note-taking materials if they choose to and any accessible camera - which definitely includes phones! The workshop will start with a presentation and end with a group photoshoot.

Facilitator bio:
A Klass (they/them) is a photographer currently based in Los Angeles. In 2017, they ended a two year run as the in-house photographer for Intelligentsia Coffee, helping the company re-establish their visual brand. A is now back freelancing, ever expanding on and exploring their unique visual style and helping brands/companies reach their fullest creative potential.
As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, most of A's personal work focuses on representing people from the community and the narratives their experiences tell. They continue to strive to broaden the representation in their work and bring that mentality into every project they work on. Whether the shoot is commercial or personal, A makes creating a comfortable, intimate and safe atmosphere a top priority.
Accessibility note: The space is located on the 2nd floor with one flight of stairs directly up from the entrance. Elevator access is available; please email pieterrentals@gmail.com prior to the event if you will need to use it. The elevator is spacious enough for any mobility device and the 2nd floor space is free of any steps or mobility barriers. There are no automated doors in the building.
There are two all-gender restrooms with three private stalls and a urinal. Each restroom has one stall accessible for mobility device users.
Parking: Free parking is available directly behind our building at 2412 Workman Street. There is an additional city lot south of Broadway on Workman Street. There is also ample metered parking in the neighborhood.
